iO Geomatics awarded the N2 Rath Roundabout to Kilmoon topographical survey.

iO Geomatics was recently awarded the contract carry out the topographical and aerial survey for this vitally important road re-alignment scheme on the N2 north of Ashbourne, Co. Meath. This is one of Irelands busiest national roads and the scheme will help alleviate congestion over the busiest 7km stretch of the route. The scheme will also facilitate active travel and make the route safe for cyclists. Our Managing Director Colin Murtagh is happy to be working on such an important infrastructure project:

“ The iO Geomatics team is delighted to be providing the topographical survey and aerial survey for this vitally important road scheme. This is a large topographical /aerial survey project of 830 Hectares in total and we have the experienced team required to deliver the project. It is great for the company to be involved with a project that benefits people from our local area and beyond ”

iO Geomatics successfully delivers N6 Bothar na dTreabh and N83 Tuam Road surveys

The team at iO Geomatics LTD. has recently completed and delivered this large topographical survey in Galway City. This project was extremely challenging due the busy nature of the roads in the area. We are sure anyone who drives in Galway City on a regular basis can testify to this! A big thanks to our survey teams who worked hard and collaborated well together to produce a very technical topographical survey of 6kms of urban roads including the famous N6 Bother Na dTreabh dual carraigeway. Most of the work took place at night and we used the latest surveying technology to safely carry out the survey.

Trimble Dimensions user conference 2016

Our Managing director Colin Murtagh and Director Elaine Morrow recently attended the Trimble Dimensions user conference in the Venetian Hotel, Las Vegas. Over 5000 Trimble users from around the world attended the conference which ran from the 6th-9th of November 2016. The equipment and software exhibition ran over 3 days along with presentations, seminars and training on a wide variety of topics. A number of new Trimble products were also launched during the conference including the SX10 Scanning Total Station, Trimble Catalyst and TX6 Laser scanner. Being Las Vegas there was also plenty of entertainment and hospitality provided by Trimble as part of the conference which was greatly appreciated by all.

We attended the conference courtesy of Korec so a big thanks to everyone there especially Helen and Alan who organised the logistics and looked after us during our attendance.

IO Geomatics invests in Trimble TX8 Laser Scanner

We have recently added to our laser scanning capability and purchased a new Trimble TX8 laser scanner. The system was purchased from our surveying equipment partner Korec Group. This laser scanner along with Nodal Ninja camera gives us the capacity to produce accurate high resolution colour laser scans for mapping, modelling and BIM applications.

Equipment features are as follows (courtesy of Trimble):

  • NEW-Improved efficiency and accuracy with new features like high precision scan mode capable of achieving 1mm accuracy, and single scan function for extended range scans.
  • High speed- with a typical scan time of only 3 minutes the Trimble TX8 allows you to capture more stations and complete projects faster than ever.
  • High quality data- never compromise on data quality. The Trimble TX8 quickly captures only high quality data over its entire range even in direct sunlight. This means less setups to capture a complete project.
  • Long range- with a maximum range of 340 meters the Trimble TX8 gives you more flexibility and project opportunities. It’s like having two scanners in one.
  • Intuitive and easy to operate- the intuitive onboard software of the Trimble TX8 makes it easy to learn and get up to speed capturing data. Reduce startup time and increase your confidence that 3D scanning can be successfully incorporated.

IO Geomatics provides survey services for the Phoenix Park Tunnel contract

IO Geomatics is providing surveying services on this prestigious contract which is due to finish in June 2016.

The project involves the surveying of precise control and monitoring prisms. An S8 total station and Digital level were used to carry out a precise traverse and double run levelling of survey stations required for monitoring operations. A specified horizontal and vertical accuracy of +/- 1mm RMSE was achieved.

IO Geomatics invests in latest GNSS system

We have recently invested in a Trimble R10 GNSS system. The system was purchased from our surveying equipment partner Korec Group. This GNSS system is the best available on the market and is a welcome addition to our equipment fleet. The equipment has already been to put to good use on projects providing our clients with smart and efficient surveying solutions.

Equipment feaures are as follows (courtesy of Trimble):

  • Trimble xFill™ provides less downtime in the field, with continuous RTK coverage during connection outages from an RTK base station or VRS network.
  • Trimble CenterPoint™ RTX™ delivers GNSS corrections via satellite or internet connection anywhere in the world for unprecedented speed and accuracy for a PPP solution.
  • Cutting edge Trimble HD-GNSS processing engine enables surveyors to measure points more quickly.
  • Trimble SurePoint™ fully compensates for pole tilt. Conveniently measure points that were otherwise inaccessible with complete quality assurance.
  • Powerful 440-channel solution with Trimble 360 technology delivers the most advanced satellite tracking.
  • Ergonomic design for easier and more comfortable handling.
  • Integrates seamlessly with V10 Imaging Rover and S-Series total station positioning sensors.
  • Pair with Trimble Access and the TSC3 controller for the most powerful solution on the market
